Dancing With the Stars Recap: Jennifer Grey and Brandy Rule; Bristol Palin Attempts to Act Sexy

Last night's Dancing With the Stars featured a new "Insta-Dance" twist on top of the more traditional performances, with the five pairs competing for up to 60 points.
To the surprise of no one, Jennifer Grey fought her ailing body all the way to the top, putting forth a quick step full of bounce and an instant rumba that was superb.
Right there with her was Brandy, whose waltz was full of grace and whose instant cha cha to Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" earned a standing ovation from the crowd.

Still the favorites to take home the Mirror Ball.

Jennifer fared slightly better in her instant dance, with Brandy's waltz giving her the slight edge there. Appropriately, the two favorites both earned a total of 57 points.

Flying under the radar all season but showing great improvement is Kyle Massey, who showcased a range of skills last night with a slow waltz and fast jive.
The boy becoming a man before our eyes was just one point behind the leaders when the dust settled Monday, making a compelling case he belongs in the finals.
Will the viewers reward him that?
As for Kurt Warner, he may not be in the same league as the above trio, but he's a lot better every week, and the fact that he's still dancing speaks volumes.
Both of his efforts last night were far from awful, but as much as he tried to let loose, he came up short on the technicalities and finished well back with 48.
He narrowly edged out Bristol Palin, whose attempt at a steamy Argentine tango kind of creeped us out, in no small part because all we can visualize is Sarah Palin.
Who was also on the show last night, we might add.
Mama Grizzly herself appeared in another taped segment, which is hilarious on so many levels we can't even get into them here. But it's beyond weird and funny.
Bristol the Pistol seemed to lose her concentration at times, and while she deserves credit for making it this far, she doesn't deserve (or want) to go any further.

Conan O'Brien on TBS: Did You Watch?

**After months of anticipations, Conan O'Brien brought his unique hair and comedic style to TBS last night. Among the highlights on the debut of Conan:**

Monologue jokes that included shots at NBC - "I'm going to be honest: It's not easy doing a late-night show on a channel without a lot of money and that viewers have trouble finding. So that's why I left NBC." - and even his new employer:

"This is an exciting night. I'm glad to be on cable - truth is, I've dreamed of being a talk show host on basic cable ever since I was 46... And things are going well already. I'm happy to report that we're already number-one in TBS's key demographic: people who can't afford HBO."

A new set that featured a full moon and an ocean view, the former of which Conan could move around with a remote control.
Seth Rogen as a guest, talking about proposing to a topless Lauren Miller and joking that he placed the ring on her nipple.
Lea Michele as another guest, saying of her scandalous GQ pictorial: "We were just having fun."

Kanye West Takes Credit for Success of Taylor Swift

You're welcome, Taylor Swift.
This is the message Kanye West sent on the radio show Mojo in the Morning yesterday, once again bringing up his rude behavior at the 2009 MTV Music Awards and implying it "spawned" the global success Swift has since enjoyed.
Said Kanye:

Without this incident, would Taylor Swift even have a career at this point?!? Kanye West isn't certain.

"I feel like when Taylor was getting all those magazine covers, she was all good then. I feel completely empathetic and sympathize with that moment of her feeling bad, that spawned her to have one million magazine covers and be the most popular artist in the world, but in that moment of her feeling bad, I do feel bad about being the cause of that."
Only Kanye West can aim for an apology, and end up taking credit for the career of another artist.

Lindsay Lohan and Michael Lohan: Reunited and it Actually Feels Sort of Good?

After an emotional reunion in rehab, Lindsay Lohan and Michael Lohan are back on speaking terms and have apparently turned over a new leaf.
No, this is not April Fool's Day!
Lindsay Lohan reunited with her estranged father at the Betty Ford Clinic, where she is being treated for drug addiction and emotional issues.

These two are getting along. Never thought we'd see the day.

"It was an emotional reunion… there were hugs, kisses and even a few tears when Michael and Lindsay first saw each other," a source said.
It is a stunning and dramatic turnaround for the 24-year-old wild child, who has perpetually blamed her dad, a drug addict felon, for her woes.
Not without good reason, either. The guy is (or at least has always been) a Class A Douchenozzle who puts money and fame ahead of her.
Are things finally turning around, though?
Yesterday, Dina Lohan went on Today and talked about how Lindsay is a different person now. But she sounded subdued and mature, too.
In other words, totally different. Is Michael following suit?
The pair met soon after 1 pm Sunday and "spent hours together... it was not a fleeting encounter, this appeared well-planned in advance."
"They also went shopping at a Palm Desert mall, where they were seen walking around together and at one point, were in a jewelry store."
The wildest part? When asked about their time together, MiLo said: "I have pledged not to comment about anything relating to my daughter."
"However, what I will say is that I am an incredibly proud father tonight. My daughter is progressing extraordinarily well."

Miley Cyrus is a global sensation. She's a multi-millionaire, beloved by fans around the world and staring at a future full of record-selling albums and hit movies.
Such success has made parents Billy Ray and Tish very proud... but it's also made them grow apart, eventually leading to last month's divorce announcement, a family friend says.
"Both parents have been equally involved in making their daughter a superstar," a source tells Pop Eater "And now that they have achieved their goal, they have nothing to work towards anymore and nothing to keep them together."

Miley Cyrus smiles - and performed! - though the pain of her parents' split at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

The insider says Billy Ray and Tish forgot about their romance over the years, as they focused entirely on Miley's next album or television appearance.

"Tthey have forgotten to make time for each other," a music executive added. "It's heartbreaking. You would think that someone like Miley has everything in the world, but I guarantee she would give it all up in a second if it kept her family together. I'm sure when she blows out her birthday candles in a few weeks her wish will be for mom and dad, not her career."

It's true. Miley turns 18 on November 23 and has already said she would love to "take a vacation with my family" in honor of the occasion.

"[My family and I] need time to all be together," she told Us Weekly over the weekend. Let's hope they get it.

Katy Perry Tweets Approval of Glee Homage

Katy Perry is loving life these days. She's newly married and her music is climbing the charts. Her impact on popular culture has even been honored by Glee.

A number of music stars of different genres, namely Lady Gaga, Madonna and Britney Spears, have gotten the Glee treatment so far. Now it's Katy's turn.
The Fox show's cast recently put together a terrific cover of "Teenage Dream," and Mrs. Russell Brand immediately took to Twitter to express her approval.

Katy Perry is the latest star to be immortalized on Glee.

"Oh… My… Gosh… this just brought a sweet tear to my eye! Teenage Dream on GLEE makes my heart go WEEEE!" wrote Katy, and we must say we AGREEEE!

Phaedra Parks on Apollo Nida: Ex-Con is My Soul Mate!

Yes, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks is married to an ex-convict. But she has a message to all the Apollo Nida haters out there:
Suck it!
"It's easy to criticize when you don't know someone," Parks tells the latest issue of Life & Style. "He's my soul mate."

Parks, a lawyer, married Nida on November 1, 2009, six months after he was released from serving nearly five years in jail on charges of racketeering. They just celebrated their one-year anniversary and "I know his character," Phaedra says, adding:
"I knew he truly loved me for who I was and not for anything else. I respect him for the person I know he is - and not for who the judge thought he was."
The couple welcomed its first child, a son, over the summer. Naturally, his birth will be featured on the November 21 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
